GIF: Nolan Ryan Threw A Ceremonial Purpose Pitch
- Updated: April 2, 2014

Nolan Ryan has been known to be wild at times. He has also been known to be nasty. During the ceremonial first pitch at the Astros home opener, the flame-throwing right-hander instinctively threw a purpose pitch behind a batter that was not there.
Just like Hall of Fame voters, he completely missed Craig Biggio. Still, he looked better on the mound that night than Yankees starter CC Sabathia.
We only wish there had been a ceremonial charging of the mound followed by a ceremonial pounding of the top of the head. Maybe when the Astros host the White Sox and manager Robin Ventura on May 16th.
