Top 10 Funniest Tweets About the Opening Ceremony
- Updated: February 8, 2014

The whole world watched as Russia’s butthole puckered. No, sorry….that was actually just one of the five Olympic rings which failed to open during a gigantic display early in the Opening Ceremony of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. A grand blunder or a subtle gesture from Grand Poohbah Vladamir Putin involving the ring that typically represents the American continent? Vlad is being pretty tight-lipped (and not just when he is smiling – or at least comes closest to actually smiling).
It was a lengthy event providing plenty of opportunities for the Snark Patrol that lives on Twitter to post some humorous reactions. Click through (by clicking the page numbers at the bottom) and check them out. Following are ten of the best we found, ranked #NOTSCTop10 style.
Honorable Mention

We don’t want to alarm you, Harvard, but you might want to get that looked at by a doctor. You will probably want a salve of something to tend to the flames shooting out the end of it.

We understand the confusion, considering all the pageantry and the announcers talking over the event the entire time. The only way we knew it was not the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is that it wasn’t followed by a humiliating performance by the Detroit Lions.
