One of the early pieces of drama with the USMNT World Cup team before “how on earth is this team going to score, have Tim Howard block one in from across the field?” was the lack of Landon Donovan on the World Cup roster.
Although, not everyone was aware that he wasn’t actually on it:

Jimmy Kimmel took this one step farther, taking to the streets in his “Lie Witness News” segment to ask “diehard” U.S. soccer fans about Landon Donovan’s “performance” in the 2014 World Cup. There weren’t many “he’s not on the roster, you dumbass” answers.
Actually, there were none.

So it wasn’t Luis Suarez with the bite, it was Landon Donovan? Now it all makes sense. Especially that FIFA suspension of Suarez.
