VINE: UMass kicker misses easy FG, gets hug from Vanderbilt player
- Updated: September 13, 2014

Vanderbilt was actually sort of competitive in the SEC last year, in the “we finished with an overall winning record and didn’t lose to Georgia Southern” sense of competitive. Then James Franklin bolted to Penn State. And it was all downhill from there.
They hadn’t lead a game all year until finally taking a late lead on UMass (and this was in football, not basketball).
UMass kicker Blake Lucas had a 22 yard field goal attempt to tie the game and send it into overtime at the end of the game. So naturally with college kickers, you know what happened. He missed.
Not everyone was mad, he even got a sympathy hug.
From Vanderbilt’s Adam Butler.

Awwww how sweet!
The rest of the SEC will have to remember to do the same for Vanderbilt later this season.
